Few German towns are as
celebrated as Rothenburg on the Romantic Road. With its
massive town walls rising above the Tauber valley, its
picturesque narrow streets and half-timbered houses, the
visitor is carried back to the 16th century.
Rothenburg’s Gothic Church
of St. James contains one of the greatest art treasures
on the Romantic Road, Tilman Riemenschneider’s Altar of
the Holy Blood, while its town hall is arguably the
finest in Southern Germany. |
